ARTWORK BY FLORENCE WOLSEY

ABOUT

F L O R E N C E  W O L S E Y

Florence Wolsey is a self-taught abstract artist who explores her deep love of colour and shape through intuitive painting. After rediscovering her passion for painting after moving from London back to Devon, where she grew up, Flo paints full-time from her studio in Sidmouth, working predominantly in acrylics.

Flo’s paintings evolve as she builds layer upon layer. She etches into the paint to create shapes and reveal hidden colours that represent a colliding of past and present memories and inspirations. Living in Devon with her husband and 2 young children, Flo draws great inspiration from her rural and coastal surroundings, past travels and her love affair with India and its vibrant colours.

In 2024, Flo was signed to Will Ramsey’s Gallery (Founder of the Affordable Art Fairs) Will’s Art Warehouse and exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea. Later that year, Flo was asked to join the in-house gallery at renowned Glebe House in Devon and became the artist-in-residence for London based interior design supremo, Wicklewood. In 2025, a lifelong dream has been fulfilled with 2 of Flo’s paintings selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025
